We noticed these tennis ball sized squashes on creeping plants by the side of the road.
The landscape that we drove through at first had a wide range of shrubs and trees growing all around.
Where the land became drier and the trees more sparce we noticed many termite mounds.
A fairly big kangaroo was lying dead in the road and this eagle was reluctant to leave its lunch, even as we approached.
It did eventually fly off but only to a branch close by.
Soon after the landscape changed yet again with very few trees or bushes and just the dry red earth.
As we were driving through the spoil heaps at Mount Magnet there were groups of wild goats by the side of the road.
A few kilometres north of Mount Magnet we turned off to explore the Granites, an area of granite breakaways. This area contains ceremonial sites for the local Badimaya people. At one time people lived in these caves.
We drove around on white sand trails which looked as though they might be river beds after heavy rain. The cliffs were much more extensive than we had expected and we drove along the tracks for about an hour with only a few birds and a rabbit in sight.
This is the widest load that we have seen so far and we had to pull off the road.
