Saturday 23rd March
As we were driving into town this morning we noticed this gala taking place in the park. This group was parading the flags of different nations.

We relaxed at the main beach and noticed this view that shows all the aspects of Geraldton.

Further on we explored the marina where there were many different types of boat.

We noticed that many of the boats were moored on these pontoons. We got talking to someone who helps to manage the marina and he took us down the private jetty to explain how these pontoons work. You can fill them with water so that they sink and the boat is floated on top. Air is pumped into the floats and the boat is raised out of the water. This helps to keep the bottom of the boats clear of marine growth.

We had lunch at the same place as yesterday and found a viewing point that shows this park and the trees that gave us shade.

The motel garden contains many of these areca palm trees with their ripening fruits.

Later in the afternoon we drove about 20km south of Geraldton to visit Flat Rocks Beach which was deserted and where we relaxed for a few hours in the car as it was far too windy to sit out.
