Thursday 13th September

Today we crossed the Columbia River into Washington State and drove along the river passing many vineyards which were small areas of lush green in otherwise dry surroundings.

On the hilltops there were numerous wind farms but many did not have the sails moving.

We took a detour onto Highway 30 which is a winding road and came to Rowena Crest with its fantastic views of the Columbia River.

When we arrived in Hood River, we checked into the hotel and found that our room had this super view of the river that we had been following.

Later in the afternoon we had a stroll along the riverside pathway and ended up at the marina.
