Saturday 1st September
First thing this morning we drove to Shasta Dam to take the hour long guided tour inside the structure. There were only 6 of us and so we were able to take our time and ask questions.
The view from the top of the dam down the Sacramento River valley was superb.
Our next stop was nine miles away at Whiskeytown Lake.
We drove to the beach here and spent several hours enjoying the water and sunshine.
Everyone was surprised when these deer appeared on the beach and began to eat from the picnic bags that someone had left on their towel.
