We followed the Columbia River to the Pacific Ocean and then followed the ocean road north. Our first stop was at South Bend where we enjoyed some very good coffee.

The road hugged the coastline but trees lined it and this is our first real view of the ocean.

We are spending a few days at Ocean Shores. Here the sea mist rolls in when it is warm inland. We were in bright sunshine up to a mile from here. The road goes right down to the beach in several places and horses can be hired to ride along it.
