Monday 9th March
Napier
This is the impressive road from our Motel into town lined with fine palm trees and, as you can see, the skies were blue today and it was very hot.

We planned a route around the centre of Napier to view the Art Deco buildings. These are a few of the lovely and well preserved designs that we saw.

On the main street nearly every building was Art Deco or Spanish Mission style. There is an official preservation society to ensure that these buildings are well maintained.

After dinner we strolled through the seafront gardens to the illuminated Art Deco fountain. The trees alongside the street are lit with coloured lights.
