Monday 2nd March
Greymouth to Westport
We set off this morning again in the pouring rain. We entered limestone country and went past some impressive cliffs.

We stopped to see these unusual rock formations in the area of kaarst scenery. This place is called Pancake Rocks because the rock layers are clearly stacked horizontally and eroded into unusual shapes.
The weather improved dramatically and by lunchtime we were enjoying mainly blue skies and sunshine so we explored Tauranga Bay.

We walked around Cape Foulwind to enjoy the sea views and visit the seal colony.

Later in the afternoon we drove up the coast past Westport exploring before returning over the Ngakawau River where you can see the rail bridge for the trains that serve the local coal mines.
