Friday 5th March
Nelson to Picton
The morning started off grey and wet but as we travelled on the weather improved. Much of the journey was through huge evergreen forest plantations and we saw lots of logging trucks.

We crossed Pelorus Bridge where two rivers meet and due to the rain the water was fast flowing.

We hiked down to the river's edge and while we were there it rose about six inches, flooding the part that we had been walking on.

As we approached Picton over the Richmond Range, we saw some lovely views of Charlotte Sound.

This is the dock at Picton and we could see why there had been so many logging trucks on the road.
