Monday 5th March
Yesterday evening we went out for the 'Sounds of Silence Dinner', which is an open-air meal held in the desert. We were driven along a dirt road to a viewing dune where we were given champagne and canapes made from baramundi, kangaroo, salmon & crocodile.
The people in the group chatted together until the sun set over the rock.
We were then led to our tables where we were seated with six other people. We enjoyed really good conversation during the meal.
During the main course we were entertained by a didgeridoo player.
Before dessert we had an informative talk about what we could see in the southern night sky. At one point we were asked not to make any noise and to simply enjoy the complete silence of the desert.
This morning, as we were leaving Ayres Rock resort we came across this line of processionary caterpillars.
There were about thirty individuals linked together and moving as one.
After two very good flights, to Alice Springs and then to Adelaide, we arrived in time to do a short walk around the city centre. We were impressed by the fact that older buildings still look so good and co-exist well with the modern ones.
