Bula from Fiji.
This morning we woke up to blue skies, very hot and humid weather. After breakfast we explored the hotel grounds.
We drove north out of Nadi and regularily saw cattle, goats and horses tethered by the roadside.
The road surface is variable, ranging from good to very rough and pot-holed. We were warned to expect oncoming traffic to be in the centre of the road or even on the wrong side as drivers choose the least bumpy surface.
At the end of Nadi Main Street is this striking Hindu Temple.
We explored the expensive resort area just out of town and noted the huge difference once we got through the gateway. We had never seen a thatched bus before but this is the transport offerred between the hotels there.

In one area there were expensive shops and restaurants and this yacht marina.
Later in the afternoon we spent some time relaxing on our balcony.
Friday 30th January
We got up at 3am to get to the airport for check in at 4.30 am and found, much to our frustration, that the flight had been delayed by nearly 6 hours so we had to wait at the airport for 8 hours. We did see a beautiful sunrise.
We crossed the International Date Line and the Equator and so have no pictures because this day did not exist for us.

We were able to enjoy looking down at extensive Japanese Gardens in the centre of the airport. Two groups of local musicians played traditional Hawaiian music and danced to keep us entertained.

There is 15cm of snow here in central London! ALL the buses have been cancelled! It's gorgeous! But COLD!
Monday 2nd. Feb. Fiji looks and sounds fascinating. Don't complain about the heat and humidity - we had 6 inches of snow overnight, and at least as much is expected today and this evening! Golf is off the menu yet again.
