Sunday 15th February
Lovely blue sky and sunshine today so we strolled down to Cathedral Square and explored the area. Lots of people were around, there were street entertainers and tables spilling out from the cafes. We visited the Aquarium and Kiwi House just off the square. No photos of the kiwis were allowed as they are nocturnal and sensitive birds. We had a really good close up view of the male.

We stopped at the Arts Centre again to enjoy some more live music. This time it was to hear a brass band that played music from the 60's and 70's.
We walked up to The Christchurch Botanic Gardens. We explored them for several hours and they were very impressive, particularily the mixed borders and the rose garden. There was live Baroque music being played here.

The scent of the roses was lovely.

Later we drove down to Victoria Square to see the Chinese Lantern Festival. On the stage in the centre we saw musicians, dancers and huge puppets.

The new year is riding in on the Ox, the year Glenys was born. The old man figure is the old year departing.
