Monday 16th February
We spent most of this morning walking around the centre of Christchurch looking in the antique shops, bookshops and at the Department of Conservation where we bought some detailed maps of walks.
In the afternoon we drove up to The International Antarctic Centre .

We arrived just in time to see the penguins being fed. These are Little Blues, the world's smallest penguins, and they are here because they have been injured by predators or boats.
We wrapped up well for the 'Snow and Ice Experience' to brave the wind chill machine's 40 kph blast and temperatures at -18 degrees C.
We finished our visit with a ride around an adventure course in a Hagglund, an all-terrain amphibious antarctic vehicle.
