Today the weather has been cloudy, overcast and grey but the wind is still warm. We drove along Highway 1 to Wellington passing through farming country where we saw our first real flocks of sheep. Towards the end of the journey the road runs right next to the sea.
Later in the afternoon we walked down to the seashore at Petone, across the bay from Wellington.
We walked out on the jetty you can see in the previous photograph and the wind was very strong out there.
Early tomorrow we catch the inter-island ferry for the three hour trip to Picton in South Island.
