After breakfast we went for a short drive south of Nadi but it was so hot & humid that we returned to cool off. This bird joined us on the balcony.
In the afternoon we drove further south and the landscape changed completely to lush green fields and forests.
Gradually the countyside opened up and we have never seen so many different shades of green.
We followed the road until it came to a dead end at Momi Bay. Unfortunately there is no beach access here.
Tomorrow we fly to Auckland, New Zealand where we intend to stay in small places and we aren't sure that we will be able to update the blog as regularily.
Monday 2nd February
We found the Garden of the Sleeping Giant along a very rough road. It was originally set up by Raymond Burr (as Perry Mason and Ironside on TV) in 1977 to house his own orchid collection. It has been extended and now contains thousands of orchids.
There is a covered walkway lined with many different orchids and the scent and colours are amazing.
The path then leds up through a tropical jungle where it was extremely hot and humid, but lots to see and bird song all around.
