Thursday 13th March
We took a taxi to the top of Mount Eden to see the superb views of the city from there,

After a cooling ice cream we explored the Winter Gardens on Auckland Domain which comprises two large greenhouses, one at either end of a courtyard.

Further on we visited St. Mary's Anglican Cathedral to see this very modern church that was completed in the 1980's.

The old St Mary's was completed in 1886 and in 1982 was moved in one piece across the road to the position where it now is situated.

We passed through Parnell village, an area where some of the few older buildings of Auckland remain.

We returned to the waterfront to find the Cunard liner Queen Victoria tied up at Queen's Wharf.
