We are still in Santa Monica, having spent a second day here.

This morning we walked into town and had breakfast in a real diner. We then hired two bicycles for a thirteen mile round trip along the Los Angeles Beaches Bike Trail. Most of it was on a narrow concrete road on the beaches themselves but part of it was on the road around Marina del Ray. We cycled back along the same route stopping on various beaches for a break.

On first half of the route we passed a crew doing some filming on Venice Beach. The film was about skateboarding but the extras were not very skilful so there had to be a number of retakes. We heard the director shout, "Action" and "Cut"; real Hollywood.

In the marina there were hundreds of yachts ranging from quite small ones up to ocean going vessels.

On the return journey we stopped at Santa Monica State Beach for a well deserved and much needed rest on the warm sand.

We rounded off the afternoon with huge chocolate ice creams and a long chat to two locals in a beach side cafe.
