Monday 1st October
We climbed over a row of sand dunes after breakfast to explore Bandon beach.
This is 'Face Rock' which is named after a local legend about an Indian princess.

We walked down the full length of the nearly deserted beach in the opposite direction.

The rocks that jutted out from the headland were varied in size, shape and geology.

On one of the rocks a group of oyster catchers were feeding and ignored us completely.

After lunch we visited a viewing point for a section of the beach that we had walked over earlier.

Brandon is the Cranberry capital of the USA. They are grown in large sunken fields called bogs.

When the cranberries are ready the bogs are flooded with water and a machine agitates the plants and the berries float on the surface.

The floating berries are collected using large nets.
