Thursday 16th February

Today we explored the harbour area in Sydney and were greeted by the sight of the beautiful Sydney Opera House. We walked along the promenade past the ferry terminals and around this amazing building.

We took the half hour ferry ride to Manley to watch some of the Australian Surfing championships which are being held here this year. The weather was hot and sunny & we watched the surfers for a couple of hours.

We walked to the end of the beach where every inch of space seems to have a building on it.

At the other end of the beach we discovered this bay which was much quieter.

As we were strolling back we spotted this Water Dragon lizard, having just passed a sign saying that it is a protected and endangered species.

On our return ferry journey we had the best view of the imposing Sydney Harbour Bridge, which we will be crossing tomorrow..
