Here we are in Emeryville the day before embarking on the train at 10 past 7 in the morning!
Glenys was able to see a dentist this morning in Pacifica, rang at 8am and got a 9am appointment. Back for breakfast at 10am looking over the ocean.

Late this morning we travelled into San Francisco. The mist was heavy and settled all over the bay. We headed for Presidio Point on the southern end of Golden Gate Bridge. The mist had just begun to lift.

We decided to walk across the bridge and as we walked the mist lifted and it began to get warmer.

The mist had not quite cleared from the city itself.

We walked to the halfway point of the bridge (0.8 miles) and spent time taking in the views.

We turned and walked back to Presidio Point with the bridge now completely in view.

On our way back into San Francisco we passed through Lincoln Park where there is a good view of the city.

We drove through the smart suburbs of Richmond where there were many large and smart houses and appartments by the side of the road.

Further on we drove through Golden Gate Park.

To reach our final destination of Emeryville we thought the road would be an Interstate Highway but it turned out to be right through the 'streets of San Francisco'.

We crossed the East side of the Bay over The Bay Bridge but we were on the lower deck; five lanes wide.

The Hertz return centre is in the lobby of the hotel where we are staying and sadly we handed over our faithful Ford Explorer in which we had covered 4,630 miles!!

We walked the short distance to Emeryville Station to check that everything was OK with our train tickets for tomorrow and found that we have to be there for 6.30 am.

Before dinner we watched the beautiful sunset over The Golden Gate Bridge from our hotel window.

We have put a lot of pictures into today's blog as it may be our last for a few days. We don't think Amtrak provides internet access on its trains.
