Tuesday 12th July
Today was the first day of the Great Yorkshire Show and we arrived about 10am & left at 6pm.
We first watched the Farrier Competition, which is held in one corner of the showground. There are four permanent fires in the purpose built building.
After looking around the farm machinery displays, craft, garden and food marquees and stalls we spent an hour watching the show jumping competition in the main ring.
Some more exploring was followed by an amazing display by the Bolddog Lings Motorcycle Display Team.
Our last entertainment in the main ring was the Heavy Horse Singles competition where we successfully predicted the winners in every class.
A walk through the cattle area brought us to the shorthorn section where we met cousin David who had successfully shown some of his stock.
Our final visit was to the sheep enclosure where we admired some champion Swaledale sheep.
