Thursday 28th April
The Yorkshire Waterways Museum is a small but very interesting museum in the middle of the working docks in Goole.
This model of the coal barges being emptied into a ship, shows the impressive engineering that was developed here and an early use of containers for transporting big loads.

You can sit in this living section of a barge and appreciate how tiny it is.

A view from the museum shows the modern area in the distance. To the right hand side you can see the coal container that was the subject of the model.

We then drove on to Burton Constable Hall

We were the only visitors in the house and had virtually a personal tour with plenty of chances to ask questions.

This one of the finest Chinese rooms we have seen in any stately home.

Thursday 21st April
To enjoy the lovely day, we went for a walk into Hetchell Woods where we were surprised by the huge number of bluebells and celandines.

We walked by the stream and enjoyed the sound of running water passing over the rocks.

The rocks always give an impressive backdrop to the flowers and trees.

We continued our walk to Pompocali and enjoyed the views there and also a red kite which flew overhead.

Sunday 10th April
We enjoyed a varied and busy weekend in Altrincham which included watching the runners through the halfway stage of the Greater Manchester Marathon.
