Tuesday 17th December
This evening we went to the Royal Hall in Harrogate to see the Albion Band Christmas show. It was a very enjoyable mixture of carols, humorous readings and folk songs with plenty of opportunities to join in.

Sunday 15th December
This afternoon we walked around the water gardens at Studley Royal where the water was so still that it reflected the surroundings beautifully.

As we neared the abbey we heard the sound of North Skelton Brass Band who were playing a selection of Christmas music in the undercroft. We listened to them for an hour.

After the concert we strolled around the illuminated abbey ruins.

Tuesday 3rd December
We travelled to Holborn to visit Sir John Soane's Museum. It is a house left exactly as it was when the owner died in 1837. It is a labyrinth of small rooms and corridors that are packed with architectural artefacts that he collected during his lifetime.

After the visit, we strolled round Lincoln's Inn Fields just opposite the museum.

We then walked down to the Thames along the Embankment and walked over the Millennium Bridge to the Tate Modern to see an exhibition by Paul Klee.

Monday 2nd December
Today we travelled into central London for a look round the West End shops and their Christmas window displays. We thought that the Fortnum & Mason's window was good.

It was bettered by the John  Lewis window displays that were constructed from domestic appliances. There were reindeer, bears, birds, squirrels, rabbits and many other animals.

We sat for 20 minutes to enjoy this steel band playing Christmas songs in Oxford Street.

Saturday 30th November
Today we visited the Geffrye Museum that displays rooms from different times in history. They had a special exhibition showing these rooms as they would have looked at Christmas.

Later in the early evening we visited Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. We had to queue with thousands of others as entry was staged due to the huge crowds inside.

Inside was just as crowded but we enjoyed the stalls, games and rides.
